Routespring
Responsive redesign for business travel management
Routespring helps businesses manage travel and travelers. As the sole designer, I took the basic app to the next level for growth: researching admin pain points, reimagining the information architecture and flows, and creating a new design system from the existing marketing design. The redesign helped the company win new clients and retain current ones.
- Role
- Sole product designer
- Worked with
- Product manager, engineers
- Platform
- Responsive web app
- Scope
- Research, IA, flows, wireframes, testing, design system, handoff

The goal
Take the basic app to the next level: improve the user experience and visual design to win new clients, and create prototypes for the sales team and for testing with clients.
Who uses it?
There were two major users: admins and travelers. I worked closely with the product manager to understand the users and the layers of admin access.
My focus was the admin side — for example account managers, and sales managers presenting to future clients.

What we found
Reviewing strong elements on other sites, and the app itself, pointed to three areas:
- Overall usability: the app needed a new information architecture, followed by updated flows
- Dashboard: a friendlier dashboard with relevant data and information
- Functionality: improving how each section works on its own and with the rest of the site

Design system
I also produced a new design system and stylesheet, based on the existing marketing design.

Impact
The company was able to increase new clients and retain current clients.
Learnings
- Make more time up front for components, the design system and the stylesheet.
- Test with more clients to get better data points for the dashboard.
